Find purpose, hope and joy THROUGH LEARNING

"Make disciples of all nations, ... teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you." (Matthew 28:19-20)

Children’s Sunday School

For ages 3 through grade 6. Sundays September through May. Begins during the 9:00am service.

After the pastor’s children’s sermon, a lesson, activities and songs introduce biblical faith in God and explore living as young disciples of Jesus. Grace is able to offer individual attention to each child’s needs and abilities because of our small class size and our commitment to recognize and nurture the unique gifts of everyone. Adults are assigned to each Sunday School child as “Buddies” to get to know and welcome them at church, share special activities during the year, and offer signs of encouragement.

"Train children in the right way, and when old, they will not stray." (Proverbs 22:6)

First Communion Class

As part of God’s family all baptized persons are welcome to receive God’s gifts of forgiveness and eternal life in the sacrament of Holy Communion.

"Let the little children come to me, and do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of heaven belongs." (Matthew 19:14)

Parents will best determine when the time is right for their child to begin communing. The pastor will be glad to assist in discernment, and offer an individual welcome to the sacrament. A First Communion class is offered once a year in the spring for all children in 5th grade. The class covers God’s baptismal promises, the origin of communion in the Jewish Passover meal, Jesus’ Last Supper with his disciples, our Lutheran understanding of the sacrament, its spiritual benefits, and practices of receiving it in worship.

Confirmation Ministry

  • Confirmation is a two-year ministry for young people in 7th and 8th grade for building and deepening the relationship with God that began in baptism. Meeting take place on Tuesdays 7:00 to 8:30 pm
  • Worship, fellowship events, learning workshops, service and outreach projects provide opportunities to express, appreciate and respond to the love and power of God within the life-long process of discipleship.
  • Parents or other adults assist the pastor in the faith formation of Confirmation youth by leading a small group of students in prayer, discussion topics, service projects and other learning activities.
  • The goal is to help youth explore and affirm their faith, and to make a commitment to be actively involved in ministry. The Confirmation rite of Affirmation of Baptism takes place in the fall of the 9th grade year.

"Therefore prepare your minds for action; discipline yourselves; set all your hope on the grace that Jesus Christ will bring you when he is revealed." (1 Peter 1:13)
